Ari Payasam OR pal payasam
- Rice:150gm (Brown rice, unakkalari )
- Milk : 1 litter
- Cardamom : 5 nos ( crush it well)
- Butter: 2 tbs ( if milk maid, use 1/4 tin)
- water: as required
Here we used “unakkalari”(in kerala) or brown rice of small size. If you are using big size, crush the rice in a mixer to make small size.
Wash rice properly.
Mix 1 litter milk with 3/4 litter water. Then add rice into it. Cook the mixture in stove. stir continuously until rice cook well. Then add sugar. Water content will be reduced at the end of preparation. So continuously still until it turn color to a cream shade. Stirring is the secret of taste for pal payasam. After add cardamom powder and butter( or milk maid). Mix it well and cook for 10 minutes.
Serve with hot.
