Stuffed chicken( kozhi nirachath)


Chicken: 1 kg full chicken, no need to make pieces, cleaned whole chicken, we need to stuff filling inside of this.

Onion: 4 big onions

Tomato :3 tomatoes

Garlic paste : 2 tbs

Ginger paste: 2 tbs

Green chilies:4 to 5

Red chili powder : 1 tbs

Turmeric powder: 1 table spoon

Pepper powder: 2 table spoon

Coriander powder: 2 tbs

garam masala Powder : 1 tbs

Curry leaves: 4 to 5 stems

Coriander leaves: 2 to 3 stems

Salt: as needed

Lemon juice: 1 full lemon juice, also we can use vinegar

oil: 3 to 4 table spoon


Cashew, Raisin :50 gm each , fry it in ghee.

Boiled Egg : 1


Marination of chicken:

Magnate the whole chicken with 1/2 tbs of red chili powder, 1/2 tbs of turmeric powder, 1/2 tbs of  pepper powder, 1/2 tbs of  coriander powder, 1/2 tbs of garam masala powder, 1/2 tbs of salt and 1 lemon juice( or vinegar) for at least 2 hours.

Preparing fillings:

In a pan add 2 table spoon of oil , once get hot add the ginger garlic paste, chopped green chilies, curry leaves and onions. add 1/2 tbs of salt into it and stir it well until onion turns to light brown color. Then off the flame and take half portion of this mixture.


In half portion, make it as two parts. Stuff one part into the chicken from bottom side of chicken. Then stuff fired cashews and raisins into it. Add boiled egg above it. As 3rd layer stuff other part of onion filling into chicken . Then insert the two legs into center of the chicken and tie those legs using a twine. Otherwise you can stitch the open side of chicken using twine and needle. we need to close that open portion of chicken, otherwise fillings will be leak out while cooking.

In  remaining of  portion of the onion fry add 1/2 tbs of red chili powder,1/2 tbs of turmeric, 2 tbs of coriander powder, 1/2 tbs pf garam masala into it and stir it well. Add chopped tomatoes into it and cook well. after 3 to 4 minutes add 2 to 3 tbs of water into and cook for 2 minutes. Then put the stuffed chicken into it and cook both sides well. 25 minutes of cooking for each side. Using a spoon take this onion from sides of pan and put into top of chicken while cooking. This process help to absorb more masala into chicken. Approximately 45 minutes of cooking needed totally.  Add chopped coriander leaves above it.

After 45 minutes off the flame and allow for cooling. Either cut the chicken into pieces or serve it as whole chicken.
