Ladies finger curry, vendakka mulakittath in malayalam.
It’s a special, tasty and easy recipe.Other Than very simple to prepare, need only 20 minutes to prepare.
For a small cup curry
- Ladies Finger: 5 nos , medium sized
- Onions : 1/2 medium sized onion chopped into small pieces.( or 1 small).
- Tamarind :as size of a small lemon
- Green chilies: 2 nos
- Curry leaves : 2 stems
- Mustard: 1 tbs
- Turmeric powder: 1/2 tbs
- Red chili powder : 1/2 tbs ( if kashmiri Red chili powder: 1 tbs)
- Salt : 1/2 to 3/4 tbs
- oil: as needed
- water: 1/4 medium sized cup
In a bowl take 1/4 cup water( you can use hot water also) add tamarind into it and set aside to soak. After 15 to 20 minutes mix the tamarind with hand in the bowl itself. Then you will get a pulp of mixture. Remove the seeds from it.
Clean the Ladies Finger and cut into small pieces.
In a pan add two tbs of oil. once become hot, splutter the mustard seeds. Then add green chili pieces, and curry leaves. Stir it well, add chopped onion pieces.
Saute until onion turns it color slightly. Then add Ladies Finger pieces into it. Pour tamarind water into the pan . Add 342 tbs salt , 1 tbs red chili powder and 1/2 turmeric powder. Stir it well . cook for 5 to 10 minutes.
Once it is cooked well and form a thick gravy, Off the flame and serve it hot.
Simple ladies finger curry ready. Best combination with rice and chapati.
